Possible aggression of farming dogs on tourist trails Shepherd dogs
There are two or three shepherds' house guarded by dogs along almost all the hiking trails in Tusheti. However, when running into dogs, the situation is quite safe and easy if you follow the tips below.
First, the shepherd dog is the protector of the owner's property - be it the shepherd's hut, flock or herd, it is his direct duty. This means that if you approach the place where these three are standing or grazing the dogs will warn you and if you cross the area you will be attacked.
A shepherd dog is not aggressive for no reason. He only protects the property of his owner and if you show that you do not want to cross his territory and especially you do not intend to occupy his property, he will only warn you, keep a safe distance and never move on to an aggressive attack.
However, there are more difficult cases when the apartment is very close to the trail or the herd and the flock graze on the upper path and you cannot digress at a safe distance. If you run into a guard dog, show that you are not a jabber either, take a stick, a stone and bend it so that it does not come close, but by no means, do not try to seriously injure the dog and do not go on the attack, such an attempt will end tragically for the visitor, because the dogs are better attackers. Just try tothreaten to gain distance and time and escape the dangerous area.
The dog cannot see what you have in your hand and what you are throwing, but if you kneel down to pick up the stone, it is an unmistakable sign to him that he must fight back. So, run long distances and you have time to move forward until the next attack. The farther you go from the herd, the weaker the dog's resistance will be, and at the end it will sit down and start barking.
If you are scared or unable to leave, call a shepherd, who is usually close to the flock, and he will respond. But with stray dogs alone you will have to deal with it yourself. However, they are less dangerous than sheep dogs.
Under no circumstances do not enter an empty shelter. The dogs may let you in, but they will not let you back until the shepherd arrives.
